RIP Jeep

Nici was T-Boned by a young girl on her way to Track practice. She was at a stop sign and the girl obviously wasn't paying attention. She tried to make her turn at the last minute and due to slick roads and the fact that she was going 55mph, she headed straight towards the Jeep. Nici heard the screach of the tires and saw the Nissan truck heading straight for her driver's side door. Nici hit the gas to try to get out of the way but the girl slammed into her anyway. Thanks to Nici's quick thinking, she wasn't hurt. Aside from a bruse from the belt and some muscle aches, she was completely unscathed! The girl's Nissan tore the back tire off the Jeep and it lodged under her truck. She then flew across the road into a ditch then hit a power pole. I believe she is ok but she was taken from the scene in an ambulance. I'm so thankful that Nici is ok! Unfortunately, as you can see, the Jeep didn't survive. LOL

I'm an Irons now! :) It took a while but the process is finally finished and I am an Irons. Now we just need to have the ceremony and things will be "official". I feel so lucky to be a part of the Irons family!

Well...I've been sitting on these pictures for quite a while. Nici gave me a hard time last night so I figured I would post them. We updated the small guest room this summer. The room was considered to be an office according to the apraiser. This is because it didn't have a closet. LAME So...we added a closet. :) Nici has become quite the carpenter, I must say! She did an amazing job. Also, we fell in love with this new color! I think we'll have to keep a sample so we can use it in our new place when we move to Idaho.

We went to a few different houses on Friday and Saturday and had a blast! It was really fun to dress up although my feet were killing me. LOL

This is an article I found on the Huffington Post website, a newspaper in California. Mormon Church on Prop 8: We Oppose Civil Rights (But Don't Tell) My thoughts here are, if you oppose gay marriage don't get one! If the so called "religious right" actually practiced what they preached then they would stop trying to take away basic civil rights from their neighbors. It's call free will folks! What, do you think you're the only ones allowed to exercise that right? Just because you think you're special in YOUR "gods" eyes doesn’t mean you can treat the non believers as second class citizens. Get a life!

On April 11, 2009, Nici and I will be celebrating our relationship with a commitment ceremony followed immediately by a reception. We are currently putting together all the plans and have yet to pick a venue. I'm super excited though!

We went camping for Nici's birthday weekend. I can't even begin to tell you how much fun we had! There were 7 of us and we went down to Honeyman Campground in Florence. Everybody pitched in and between Jimmy and Steve & Phillip, we ate like royalty! Oh, AND my parents come over on Saturday night with beer and cake in hand! It was a much needed break and a perfect way to celebrate Nici's 30th!

We had a BBQ this last weekend. It was so great to have friends over and show them all of the work we've done to the house. Nici was amazing! The morning of the BBQ our back patio was covered in junk and looked like a total pig pin! She had that thing cleared, cleaned, raked AND weeded in no time! She put down bark mulch while I arranged the new potted plants and outdoor rug. By the time our guests showed it looked like a whole new back yard. Everyone seemed to have fun and some how, we ended up with more food than we started with. :o) Thanks for all your hard work Nici! I'll have to update with pictures as soon as I unearth my digital camera.

Coach Irons

Nici has accepted the position of head pole vault coach at Pacific University! Go Boxers! hehe I'm so proud of her. It's a new program for the school so she only has 3-4 vaulters so far. They have a lot to learn and I'm sure they feel lucky to have such a great coach! I can't wait to go to a track meet!

It's official...I am now a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers! YEEEHAAAW I start my Limited Energy Electrician Apprentice Program today and am waaaaay excited to start learning something completely new. Yikes I'm a bit nervous. :o)

On the Road Again

We spent this last weekend in Idaho with Nici's family. They managed to cram in 5 birthday celebrations in one weekend which amazed me. It was a wonderful time! I always enjoy our visits because I feel at home every time! Plus, our little Shadow was such a good girl on the trip...although in this picture she doesn't look so pleased with me.

Nici pulled out the costume box this year and resurrected her Peg getup. Our friend and co-worker Steve agreed to be her Al. I think they pulled it off quite well! In fact...Nici won the best costume award this year! Meet Peg & Al Bundy...

New Furniture To Go With a New Living Room

It took forever but we finally got our new furniture! I realize the picture is crappy but you can kind of make out the new colors on the walls. Originally we painted the room the top color which is a vanilla cream shade but we found it to be too bright. Rather than waste paint I decided a bottom color would work. So, we found this fabulous milk chocolate mocha color that is perfect! Plus you can sort of see the new ceiling fan I installed. I'll have to track down a picture of the new window...all in all I'm very pleased with the result!

Call me sentimental but I count the day we met as our anniversary date! It's been an absolutely wonderful year and I can honestly say that I wouldn't change a thing!
